At the United Martial Arts Center, students can learn a great deal about self-defense. But just recently, self-defense has taken on a whole new meaning.
With flu season in full swing and H1N1 cases becoming more and more prevalent, Sifu Pasquale has taken matters into her own hands. When the kids have been arriving for their classes lately, the price of admission has been a squirt of disinfecting hand sanitizer. Not all of the kids are fans, but no disinfectant, no deal.
Flu prevention has taken on a life of its own this year. From posters in the workplace to flu shots to freestanding disinfecting stations in building lobbies, the focus is on minimizing the spread of the sickness.
As dedicated as students are to learning, for the sake of everyone associated with UMAC, if you know you’ve got the flu, stay away until you’re better! Disinfectants may help, but prevention is the best medicine.
