Danvers, MA June 28, 2014 – United Martial Arts Center will be doing a Kick-a-thon  for St. Jude on Saturday June 28th during the Endicott Park Day to raise funds and awareness for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers. Sponsored by United Martial Arts Center, the kick-a-thon will feature many little martial arts students that will be raising money for the charity. The Demonstration will start at noon and  the booth will also have a cookie decorating table where children can purchase a #Ninjaswithaheart sugar cookie to decorate for only $3.00 and 100% of money raised will go to benefit St. Jude.

This is the 13th year that United Martial Arts Center will hold the Martial Arts for St. Jude program. “We are so grateful to the Danvers Community for supporting our Martial Arts for St. Jude event,” said Sifu Rita Rose Pasquale, who is the events coordinator. “Our studio focuses 563543_10151877806862342_48826221_non teaching children empathy by doing community service and at the same time we also were able to teach our supporters about the great work conducted daily at St. Jude. The hospital is truly committed to the mission of finding cures and saving children. We are so grateful to have our student Drew celebrating his 9th year in remission on the same day we are doing the Kick-a-thon. ”

United Martial Arts Center has raised over $54,000.00 since it began the Martial Arts for St. Jude program in 2000 and Sifu Rita Rose Pasquale has participated in St. Jude’s “Volunteer Appreciation Day” in Memphis Tennessee, where she spent the day touring the hospital and meeting with over 200 volunteers from around the country. The trip inspired Sifu Rita to take on a new mission for St. Jude ” Our studio will now be fundraising for St. Jude all year long and what we studio raised in 13 years – one day we will raise in one year.”
Since opening in 1962, St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and around the world. No child is ever denied treatment because of a family’s inability to pay. With a daily operating cost of $1.7 million, St. Jude depends mostly on public contributions and fundraising events, like the Martial Arts for St. Jude event.
